DCT October 2024 Update: Performance & Stability

Dear users,

We're pleased to announce the latest update for the DCT app (1.4.8*) and the Local Partner portal. This release focuses on improving stability, fixing bugs, and introducing new features to enhance your experience.

Note: Data Collectors will need to update to this version to continue collecting

DCT App 1.4.8* changes:

• Speed Check*

  New feature to assess internet capacity in your area. The app tests actual upload speeds and estimates the time needed to submit collected data. This helps determine if collecting data with photos is feasible in your location. Contact us for a demo!

• Optimized Plots

  When saving tracked plots, the app now automatically removes unnecessary markers. This improvement simplifies editing and improves performance. For safety, we also store the original polygon.

• "Stuck" PA Handling

  Implemented fixes for more reliable PA processing.

• Map Functionality

  Fixed offline map loading and location zoom issues

• GPS Accuracy

  Implemented custom location services and filters for improved coordinate precision

Portal changes:

• Profile Signoff*

  A new feature that requires explicit user sign-off for data verification. We encourage projects to enable this feature to streamline data quality checks. (Contact us for a demo and to enable this functionality)

• Bulk Actions

  Re-enabled for recollect, reassign, enroll, and export (limit: 100 records per action)

• Data Saving Confirmation

  Added confirmation messages when saving data in the portal

• Dashboard Fixes

  Resolved issues with popups in the dashboard

Known issues:

• The app now handles slow device performance more gracefully. Instead of crashing during certain actions, it will display error messages and return users to the previous screen. This improvement improves stability and user experience on less powerful devices.

• PA submissions with photos may fail due to unstable internet connections. If a submission fails and a DC wishes to change the PA type from "with photo" to "on paper," recollection from the portal is necessary. We will make this easier next update.

* DCT was updated from 1.4.4 to 1.4.8 to improve the experience of users on different phone models.
