Acorn Updates

On September 4th, Acorn signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Asian Forest Cooperation Organization (AFoCO), a forest-focused intergovernmental organization, to help smallholder farmers in Asia transition to agroforestry.

From grant announcements to connecting with local partners and women farmers, Acorn had a rewarding week at Africa Climate Week.

A total of $5 million has been granted to support Acorn’s agroforestry projects.

In July, an Acorn farmer payout ceremony in Tanzania issued payments to about 500 farmers, presented by the Hon. Dr. Selemani Saidi Jafo, Tanzania’s Minister of State.

The 27th United Nations Climate Change Conference wrapped up last month. This annual event assesses and discusses the global progress made when it comes to climate change.

Last month, Acorn’s Margreet Muizebelt happened to be in Mbale to meet with our partner Solidaridad. Perfect timing, as Solidaridad ECA (East and Central Africa) was organizing a celebratory payment ceremony in the Mount Elgon region between Kenya and Uganda.
